I must admit, it doesn't feel like I have been back at work for 3 weeks. Probably because out of those 3 weeks, we have only been here for about 5 days (thank you Jesus for the snow days). This is NOT a bad thing.....
I started my graduate classes last week. I am taking Foundations of Leadership & Professional Studies:Issues and Ethics this semester. I really like my Leadership class. The professor is a self-proclaimed leadership junkie, and she loves John C. Maxwell, so she must be cool.....
One of the questions that I have to answer this week is : " Who is the leader you most admire and why?" This question has really stumped me. It would be easy to answer if I simply named someone that I don't know who has made a huge impact on the direction society took during their lifetime (i.e. Barak/Michelle Obama, Mother Teresa, Hillary Clinton, etc.). However, if I apply it more directly to the leaders who have brought about direct change in my life....it makes the question a little more challenging. I still haven't come up with a good answer yet. Stay tuned.
Other than work and school there is not time for much else these days. When I say I have no life, I mean it quite literally. The most direct human contact I have outside of work is the occassional glimpse of a family member or my landlords. LOL. I stay in touch with a few friends via e-mail, and of course, if you are reading this, then I am keeping up with you on facebook. I hope the new year has started out well for all of you and your families, and if you live in the Knoxville area.....please start praying for another snow day for this Friday. It would be the nice thing to do for all the teachers you know.....

Round 2
I made a very sad attempt at doing a blog last year, but obviously I never used it and eventually deleted it. So....I decided to give it one more shot. It seems like more and more people are using them to keep their friends updated on life, and since I rarely talk to or see anyone these days....I thought I'd try to do the same.
This past year has been somewhat of a whirlwind. I feel like I learned so much about myself , and about the people in my life. I'm in a sharing mood....so I will hit you up with:
10. Always go with your gut instinct. Don't let anyone talk you into something you are unsure about. Never
give anyone the power to control you.
9. If you squeeze the bottle while smelling body wash in the soap aisle at WalMart, it WILL shoot soap up
your nose and into your mouth before you can react. True story.
8. Don't tell your problems to anyone. 80% of people don't care, and the other 20% are glad you have
them. It makes them feel better about their life.
7. Friendship requires an equal effort from both people. If one person in the equation is obsessed with
themselves and their problems....more often than not they don't even realize that the other person is
hurting. You can't take and take and take and never give in a true friendship.
6. If at 1st you don't succeed, wait 5 years, apply again.....and you WILL finally get into grad school.
5. I love Capt Jack Sparrow....but I guess we knew that. Johnny Depp, will you marry me?
4. Quitting smoking WILL result in picking up another addiction, such as coffee with mass amounts of sugar
in it. This WILL most definately result in gaining 30 lbs.
3. It is okay to not want children of your own. Some people weren't wired for parenthood,
but sometimes those people make the best Aunts (or Uncles). I love my biological and adopted nieces
and nephews more than life itself :)
2. Every person is different. Every relationship is different. Don't ever let people make you think that your
relationship with someone should be defined by society's norms. Marriage isn't for everyone or every couple.
Committment looks different to each couple, and what is right for you may not be what the rest of the
world thinks you should do. And that is okay..... Realizing this a little too late WILL result in your
running off the person that you love. Create your own rules and norms, and stand up for them. From the
outside looking in, you could never understand it. From the inside looking out, I could never explain
it. That is how a real, loving relationship should be.....between 2 people, not 2 people and the rest of the
world.
1. Sometimes it is the person you least expect that become the catalyst for change in your life. The person
who inspires you to reach higher, achieve more, ignite change, and never stop dreaming.....showing you
how to live again, and that life really does give you second chances. They teach you more than you could
ever teach them.
And now, I am completely out of important life lessons and deep thoughts.
